Nicknames : Bodysnacher Brennan

Age : 28

Year’s kiteboarding : About five years now, I started windsurfing when I was ten so I have a lot of hours put up on the water, it all helps.

Local hang out : Dealgan Boxing club. I spend most of my free time there and being Leinster champion and looking to become the Irish champion. I hang out there every night, the rest of my free time is spent on the water.

Why do you Kiteboard? I have always been a water baby so the water just fits me and I love the wind, put the two together with a flexifoil kite strapped to you and life doesn’t get much better.

What do you like about the new Flexifoil kites? The new kites are very quick to set up with the one pump system, also easy to wrap up and the quality of the new gear is top class. The kites are so stable in the air. They have made my wave ridding a lot better this year with the big depower and the turning speed. The new kites make it easy and you look good.

What gear are you using this year? I’m on the Atom for my wave ridding and I’m on the Fusion for my free style and big airs.

Sponsors? Flexifoil and the hen parties at the weekend where I get my kit off for the girls. It’s all good harmless craic?

Most inspiring kite boarders? Peter Peterson. He is a South African kitesurfer that spends all his time looking for big waves and he rips it up big time. A nicer fella you couldn’t meet. We have sailed some of the biggest waves I’ve ever been on together. For free style it would be Jo Wilson. Jo is number four in the world and is going to give the top three girls a run for there money big time this year. She kites like a true warrior and never lets up. She trains very hard and is a real inspiration.

Your opinion on competition? It raises the bar for the standard of the sport. Sorts the men from the boys!!

Boardshorts over the wetsuit? Absolutely its all good either way.

Favourite drink? Tea by the MUG load and coffee in Cora’s Flower House. Eddie and Kelly being kitesurffers know how we like it!

Favourite kiteboarding movie? Snap Shot. It’s a South African kitesurfing movie made by Peter Peterson. There are some great wave riding moves in it.

Most memorable kiteing sessions so far..? South Africa with 20ft waves and Arron Hadlow , Jason Ferness and myself making the Ion Two movie.

Best excuse used in order to ditch work to go kiting? What work kiting is not a crime?

Your best advice to newcomers in kiteboarding? Get lessons and ask loads of questions. Kitesurfers are very obliging and keen to share their wisdom.
